Neglect
I’ve definitely been ignoring word press. And for good reasons. Grad School keeps me busy, and I don’t think I actually like blogging, or social networking.
Here is what I’ve been finding time to work on:
And here are a few paintings that are finally finished:
They’ll also be on Flickr with more info on why they were made.
I expected to update my blog more, or to care about it. The truth is, the updates will be sparse, and almost always not about whatever it is I’m doing. Or any nice critiques of art. I’m almost sorry because it might be a nice read, to hear my thoughts.
I may have some photos uploaded soon though, exciting right?

Here you go, the final set of photographs. From here on out updates might be slow. Keep in mind if you click the individual photos you can see some thoughts on the pictures. I should be bringing some new paintings into fruition soon. Look forward to it.
If I don’t update soon and you get bored you should go through the past photo updates:
And now a haiku:
So there you have it.
This photo saga at an end.

Third Strike
And now here is the third portion of photographs, there is one more after this:
- Wolfie
- Tilt
- Stripes and Layers
- Spookery

Here is set [one] and [two]. And here is my post on [TOM HANKS] for no reason.
And to drown you in links, check out flickr for all of the photos together.
What else is new? Well that guy Abdi won the Work of Art Show. I think that is a good thing, although I feel Peregrine had the most cohesive show. In general though I don’t know how I felt about watching a reality television show judging art. It is not entirely all that insightful into what goes on in that world.
And thats how the cookie crumbles.
Second Set
Here is the second set of my photography rampage:
- Photography…?
- Hes a pig.
- So exciting.
- Assortment of objects.
- Flamingos without pink aren’t exciting.
- A hero of our time.
- So much junk.
- Reoccurance of creepy character.
- Everybody Counts
- Do’h
- Glue among other products.
The first set was definitely stronger. But I haven’t been placing them in a specific order.
If you’re wondering why the photographs are being split up, it’s because there are too many for me to want to put into one post. If you want a quick link to the first set, click this link.
This update ends here!
Progress
I have a few paintings going along swimmingly. I also have some new photographs. They aren’t necessarily new though, they were taken during my BW Photo class.
What else is new? Well I now have a scanner, which could result in me doing really ridiculous drawings. Or uploading my sketch books success stories. Only time will tell.
For now here are some successful photographs:
- Contemporary Skeletor
- A toy put on a pedestal.
- Multi Scarf Face Mask.
- Mirror Magic
- Experimentation with light, literally.
- Is this Look Book quality?
- Kelly as Sylvia.
- Pretty ambiguous.
- Grower
- A duel.
- This slide fell into the light.
Looking at these made me realize my photography instructor was kind of full of BS and didn’t like me. These photographs aren’t great but I don’t think any of the critiques I received were teaching me anything.
So this is the first batch of these photographs. There are around 30 more which I will be uploading, hopefully today.
Progress is a nice thing. I’ve been rejuvenated lately – Maybe from some mystical power.
Bunsen Burner
I’ve been absent from making or doing anything, more so now, than ever. What is it that makes some people so unmotivated or driven. For me, is it the heat? Most likely not. I do tie the lack of will power to my computer. It is a void filled with everything that humans know. It is ultimetly a time waster. It also makes me blind.
Or I can blame the general media for making me so disgustingly sparse in any form of educational research or writing. But then I’m avoiding putting blame on myself.
It is up to the person to decide what they do with themselves. My consistent thoughts as of late have been both summer 2009 and a quote from Sedaris. Summer 2009 comes into memory as some of the worst experiences in my life, though I am short lived currently. And the Sedaris quote gets my gears running for my future.
“One burner represents your family, one is your friends, the third is your health, and the fourth is your work.”
From the few blogs and writings HERE and HERE the idea is put forth that to be successful you have to cut off one burner. And to be even more successful, quite possibly at Sedaris’ level, you need to cut off two.
Whether or not it is true it does keep me thinking. I don’t think I’d be able to forcefully switch off important aspects of my life. And even then, in the case of a writer aren’t the vast majority of your essays going to be related to your family or friends anyway?
The arch or bend of the quote is that I feel to be successful where I am going some of those burners will be turned on and off. Of course if this metaphor represents a true four burner stove you can also leave some of the burners on a low fire, and crank up the work aspect to become successful.
One of my fears however is the idea that I will encompass myself with work only for the idea of self worth and making it to some direction. I do enjoy the field I am going into, so maybe I am looking at it a second step ahead. Everyone wants to make it to a certain direction, until they have kids and then they look out for them.
Every personal account will be different, and every background will change. Diversity in life appears to be the variable for the equation. Or you could be a businessman for a super corporate conglomerate and not care for metaphors.
